A little back story on how Skillern Creek Australian Shepherd's formerly known as Brown's Australian Shepherd's all began. That sweet man right above is who started it all, my husband's grandfather. On a cattle farm, located in Pikeville, TN, is where he spent the majority of his time and still would if he was able.  He was an Electrical Inspector by trade but should have been an Engineer. This man could create anything out of the things he had just laying around.  The things he created always had purpose and helped him with the chores he did around the farm.  One of his creations included an old dryer that he had on the farm. He wired it up, threw some big rocks and walnuts inside of it and voila' a homemade walnut sheller! When it came to his companions, they were no different.  They had a job. They knew how to round up the cows and do whatever may be asked of them.  He took care of them and they took care of him! He raised several litters of working line, farm raised Australian Shepherds and Australian Cattle dogs.  My husband, of course, helped him do whatever was needed of him around the farm so naturally I was with him sometimes.  I fell in love with the Australian Shepherd breed. A couple years later we took his love for raising this breed and ran with it. In 2021, we decided to change the name to Skillern Creek Australian Shepherds. We have built our forever home where my husband was raised and also where all of his brothers have planted their roots, as well.  The creek that winds through the middle of the farm is called Skillern Creek.  That creek holds a lot of old memories for my husband and now new memories with me and our two little girls. Our kennels are planted right beside this creek. Today, we do everything we can to be the keeper of the flame. The storytellers. There isn't a day that we don't learn something new about our breed and that's why we love it so much! We strive to produce a lifetime companion that can keep up with the work on the farm and also fit the breed standards.
